Article I. Name and Affiliation SECTION 1. The name of this organization shall be the Union College Republicans, hereinafter referred to in this document as the College Republicans, or CR. SECTION 2. The Union College Republicans shall be the recognized campus affiliate of the New York Federation of College Republicans, and of the College Republican National Committee, and shall be subject to and abide by the Constitutions, Bylaws, and Resolutions thereof. Article II. Purpose SECTION 1. To make known and promote the principles of the Republican Party among members of the Union campus and community. SECTION 2. To aid in the election of Republican candidates at all levels of government. SECTION 3. To encourages and assist in the organization and active functioning of the Republican Party at local, state, and national levels. SECTION 4. To develop political skills and leadership abilities among Republican students as preparation for future service by them to the Party and community. Article III. Officers SECTION 1. The elected officers which comprise the Union College Republicans shall be Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.
SECTION 1A: The Chairman shall be responsible for overseeing all CR activities, scheduling and presiding over all meetings, and serve as liaison between the CRs and other campus groups.
SECTION 1B: The Vice Chairman shall be responsible for assuming the duties of the chairman in case of absence and coordinating all recruitment events.
SECTION 1C: The Secretary shall keep minutes of all CR minutes and shall distribute them upon request.
Section 1D: The Treasurer shall keep all financial records and regularly submit them to members of the Executive Board.
SECTION 2. The appointed officers which comprise the Union College Republicans shall be Advertising Chair and Social Chair. SECTION 2A: The Advertising Chair shall be responsible for creating and upkeeping the CR website (provided by the CRNC), taking pictures at events to post on our website, and advertising and promoting all events.
SECTION 2B: The Social Chair shall be responsible for organizing social activities for the club and other members of the campus community to promote unity among members and to recruit others. SECTION 3: All officers shall be elected at a regular CR meeting between April 1 and April 30 of each year, to be announced in writing to all members not less than two weeks in advance. SECTION 4: Nominations of candidates for office in the College Republicans shall be made from the floor by any members in good standing. SECTION 5: Officers shall be elected by a majority of those present and voting. SECTION 6: Vacancies occurring among the officers shall be filled by the election of the Executive Board at the first meeting following the occurrence of the vacancy, provided however that notice that election is to occur must be included in an official notice of the Board meeting. A person elected to a fill a vacancy shall serve as officer until the next annual election. SECTION 7: The elected officers may appoint others to fill other necessary roles.
Article IV. Executive Board SECTION 1. There shall be an Executive Board, which shall govern the College Republicans.
SECTION 2. The Executive Board shall consist of elected officers and appointed officers.
